Official: Indonesian VP's China visit to strengthen friendship

Indonesian vice president Jusuf Kalla's visit to China next Friday really reflects the strengthening friendship between Indonesia and China, a spokesman said.

"This is the reflection of the existent friendship between the two countries, Indonesia and China," Indonesian foreign ministry's spokesman Teuku Faizasyah told Xinhua in an interview on Wednesday evening.

Jusuf Kalla is to attend the closing ceremony of the Beijing Olympic Games on Sunday. But, Faizasyah has not confirmed yet about the list of officials who would accompany Jusuf Kalla during his visit.

He said, the Indonesian government feels that there is a necessity for government officials to attend the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games.

"The visit, conducted by any level of government officers will give positive influence on bilateral relationship between the two countries," he added.

The spokesman said, the existent bilateral relationshiop between China and Indonesia so far has given strong commitments, particularly in trade relationship. Good understanding has also been improved seeing the historical value and strategic relationship of the two countries, he stressed.

"The history of our relationship should be valued and our strategic partnership should be improved," he said.
